FAQs
How does Omni Jewelcrafters determine how much to pay out?
Omni Jewelcrafters will sort your gold based on the karat gold of each item. We will then weigh each pile of gold to determine how many grams you have. Once we know the weight of your gold we can calculate the value based on the current price of gold on the US market.
Is there a minimum amount of gold required to order the mail-in kit?
There is no minimum amount required and every little bit puts more money into your hands. Prices of gold per gram are all based on percentages so the more gold you send the greater the price per gram will be. So it is definitely worth mailing as much gold as you can to make sure you are getting the absolute most you can for your jewellery.
Is my package insured?
Yes. Omni Jewelcrafters has teamed up with Canada Post to make sure your parcel will be covered and that it will reach its destination safely and securely.
How do I know if my jewellery is real gold?
Most gold and platinum jewellery will bear a identifying stamp. On gold you may find a number followed by the letter “k” or even the letters “kt” or “ct”. Some countries use a numeric stamp-916 is equivalent to 22k, 750 is equivalent to 18k, 585 is equivalent to 14k, 417 is equivalent to 10k, and 375 is equivalent to 9k. There are many items that do not have these stamps and are still gold. These items are more difficult to determine whether or not they are gold. One way to verify if something is NOT gold is to wave a magnet above it-if the item is affected by the magnet, then it is clear that it is not gold. Gold cannot be moved by a magnet. If an item does not have any identifying marks and is not picked up by a magnet, it may still be gold. To determine if it is in fact gold, you may need to show it to a jeweller.
Can I track my parcel?
Yes. As mentioned above, Omni Jewelcrafters has teamed up with Canada Post and will provide a tracking number for each and every parcel.
